14 Feb 2014 - Happy Valentines Day! RV Day Spa!

14 Feb 2019
Gorgeous, warm morning here at at Llano Grande Resort!  Sunrise was spectacular, but I guess that is pretty common down here.
We were busy arriving and setting up yesterday and then visiting with my sister and her husband, so I did not get many pictures of our camp site.  Here are a few:
Our camp site with Karen & Jim's golf cart on loan to us.  Plenty of room for the RV, the golf cart and the truck.

A look down our street.  Wide, paved, clean streets.

Mucho room between our camp site and our neighbors.  Very nice.

Nice camp site
Yesterday we made arrangements with a guy to come today and wash/wax the RV.  He and his helper arrived promptly at 0800 hrs and got right after it.  They scrubbed the roof, scrubber the entire RV including the awning, polished with a buffer and waxed the entire RV, washed the windows, and then re-treated the roof with EPDM sealant.

That sounds all fine and dandy, but they ran into some problems.  The coating on the RV is not painted, it is what is called gel-coat.  A gel-coat finish is an embedded pigment in the coating of the Fiberglas surface and has started to oxidize on the RV.  Unlike paint, you cannot necessarily just buff out the dullness of the gel-coat.  So the two person crew worked very hard to get the RV looking as good as they could.  The front and rear caps were no issue since they have been repainted as part of some warranty work involving the gel-coat fading.  Now we are seeing dulling and lack of luster on the sidewalls.  It is obvious it is probably not going to get much better but the guys made a big difference and they really worked hard.  They used special marine polishing compound on many of the surfaces and then waxed them twice.  They were very concerned that I would not be pleased, but as I told them, it is what it is.  Do the best you can and move on.
Scrubbing the EPDM rubber roof

I had not planned on doing the roof but I am really glad they did.  The work I have described is a pain in the keester, in my humble opinion.  The money we spent to get this work done was money well spent!  The older I get the less I look forward to doing that stuff!  Needless to say I tipped these guys generously.

Later we drove the golf cart over to Karen & Jim's where many of their other out-of-town guests had arrived.  Some are from Iowa and some are from Salt Lake City where Karen got her Doctorate degree.  Karen prepared a great dinner and we sat around and talked for a while.

Tomorrow they will set up the event center for their 50th anniversary celebration, which starts at 1400 hrs tomorrow.  We will go out to eat after that and then they are having a dance with a local band playing. Should be a great time!
