We had been forewarned about Interstate 10. It is in pretty bad condition similar to the streets and highways in New Orleans. Washboard surfaces shake the heck out of the truck and RV. Bridge approaches and departures with severe, bone jarring offsets. Terrible! Here is a video Doreen took, if it comes out:
It was a pretty easy day of driving. We thought we took a wrong turn, however, as the signs pointed to Iowa in a half mile! Iowa is a town just east of Westlake!
Soon we were checked in to the RV park. The only open spot was ours. According to the owner, the majority of residents here are working in the chemical plants. They all leave in the morning, and they all return in the evening.
We went for a drive to pick up a few things after we got here and got set up. We are indeed surrounded by chemical plants.
The owner warned us not to drive between 0430-0800 hrs and 1630-1830 hrs. That is when the shifts change at the chemical plants and the traffic is dead slow! Well, returning for our shopping trip we experienced just that! Oh well. We got to see some of the area.
No set plans for here. There are a couple things we have jotted down to check out, but nothing crazy. I will probably get a few things done around here before we move on to Texas.
